Donating to the Tsunami Hope Appeal

You don't have to go on a walk to raise money for the appeal!

All money raised will go 100% to helping the shattered communities of Phuket and the Moken sea gypsies. If you don't raise money through being sponsored or by sponsoring a walker, you can still help by making a direct donation to the Tsunami Hope Appeal at PO Box 2697, Reading RG1 9BR, making cheques and PO's payable to Compassion and Care International (Tsunami Hope).

Fundraising ideas

  • Try for a generous donation to be written at the top of your sponsorship form - this encourages all the other sponsors to think big!
  • Ask your employer to sponsor you - hopefully your colleagues will follow suit.
  • Stick up a sponsorship form at work in the staff room, tea room or kitchen.
  • Hold a fundraising event to raise money - Sarah Pollard bought Thai market items in February to help the local economy and is now selling them at a craft stall to raise more funds.
  • Approach as many people as you can - friends, family, work colleagues, business contacts, clients, suppliers, pub aquaintances, sports team members. All you need do is ask.
  • Email or text your friends to get them to make a pledge.
  • Don't forget to carry a sponsorship form with you everywhere.

We need people and companies to help make the appeal a success!

For the many survivors of the tsunami who lost everything, life can still be very hard.

  • Businesses and other organisations who can give assistance with publicity, advertising, transport, goody bags, T-shirts and tea towels
  • Race marshals
  • Refreshment people - to hand out bottled water etc.

  • St John's Ambulance for First Aid
  • People to hand out goody bags (if donated!)
  • People to cheer us on throughout the whole course to keep our flagging spirits going so we make it to the finish!!!

Sarah Pollard of Tsunami Hope would like to thank the following:

  • Mark Jones for the fantastic web design.

  • Boots the Chemist for first aid donations.
  • Worcester Red Cross
  • Carol Blake and Heather, Millennium Volunteers - Sarah, Dave, Tom, Emma and Dale. Joy Reynolds as Race Marshall, and Diane Moss as Safety Officer who are putting in so much time and effort at Worcester.
  • My fellow colleagues Ross Cooke and Jan Bonczyk.

Also thanks to the following companies for their discounted donations:
